meditation on the seed
that does not come to fruition


the seed that does not germinate
     a placeholder in the pod

the seed that sprouts and dies
     green manure for the soil


the sprout that doesn’t bear fruit
the fruit that doesn’t ripen

     profuse extinction of excess
     gone all fossils

The title seems to be a “calque” on Reflections on a Gift of Watermellon Pickle from a Friend Called Felicity
